Sirpa Mäkinen

Olen toiminut Helsingin Felicitaksessa IVF-biologina vuodesta 2023 lähtien.   Olen valmistunut vuonna 1996 Helsingin Yliopistosta (FM) pääaineenani genetiikka. Olen ESHRE sertifioitu embryologi (ESHRE certified Senior Clinical embryologist).

Minulla on 30 vuoden kokemus IVF-laboratorion eri osa-alueista, laboratorion kehittämisestä ja embryologiasta. Kiinnostukseni kohteena on erityisesti lapsettomuuden genetiikka ja erityisosaamisaluettani Felicitas klinikalla onkin alkiodiagnostiikka (PGT). Annan mielelläni alkiodiagnostiikkaneuvontaa myös englannin -ja ruotsin kielellä.  Aikaisemmin olen toiminut embryologina sekä laboratorionjohtajana yksityisillä klinikoilla. IVF-laboratorion kehittäminen on innostavaa ja edelleen oleellinen osa työtehtäviäni. Lisääntymisbiologian tutkimustyöstä olen tehnyt Karoliinisessa Instituutissa Ruotsissa.  Olen myös aktiivinen alamme eri järjestöissä; olen toiminut Pohjoismaisen Fertiliteettiyhdistyksen hallituksessa sekä Pohjoismaisen laboratorioyhdistyksen puheenjohtajana, ja näin aktiivisesti edistänyt alamme koulutuksen järjestämistä.  Tällä hetkellä olen alamme suurimman järjestön ESHREn (European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology) hallituksen (Executive Committee) jäsen. Viimeiset 10 vuotta olen ollut myös  ESHREn Embryologien Sertifiointikomitean (ESHRE Embryologist Certification Committee) jäsen. 

I have been working as an IVF biologist at Felicitas Helsinki since 2023.  I graduated from the University of Helsinki (FM) in 1996 with a major in Genetics. I am ESHRE certified Senior Clinical embryologist. I have 30 years of experience in various areas of the IVF laboratory, laboratory development and embryology. My field of interest is genetics of fertility and my special area of expertise at Felicitas Clinic is preimplantation genetic testing. (PGT). I am happy to provide information of PGT also in English and Swedish.  Previously, I have worked as embryologist and as a laboratory director at private clinics. The development of the IVF laboratory work is inspiring and it is still an essential part of my work. I have also been involved in research work of reproductive biology at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.  I am also active in various organizations in our field; I have been on the board of the Nordic Fertility Society and as chairman of the Nordic IVF- Laboratory Society and have thus actively promoted and organised the education in our field.  I am currently a member of the Executive Committee of the largest organization in our field, ESHRE (European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology). For the past 10 years I have also been a member of the ESHRE Embryology Certification Committee.
