Fertility treatments for female couples can be carried out in the natural cycle and with donated sperm.

Fertility treatments for female couples

Pregnancy in one of the partners of a female couple is commonly started with insemination. The treatment can be carried out in the natural cycle if the time of ovulation can be found easily.

The likelihood of successful insemination treatment is about 20%. If the pregnancy does not begin after 3–4 insemination attempts, in vitro fertilisation, a more effective treatment than insemination, can be considered as an alternative.

Fertility treatments for female couples are always individually tailored. For female couples, the form of fertility treatment that is most likely to bring the best outcomes is always chosen.

Donated sperm are used in the fertility treatment of female couples. The use of donated gametes requires careful planning and preparation, as well as a discussion with a psychologist.
