Maternity Clinic

The midwives of our maternity clinic provide support at all stages of your pregnancy.

Each pregnancy is different. Therefore, it is important that pregnancy monitoring and birth coaching are carried out according to the needs and wishes of the future parents. Our maternity clinic specialists aim to ensure that the pregnancy proceeds safely and the whole family is well.

Maternity clinic provides reassurance for childbirth

The Felicitas Mehiläinen maternity clinic is a private maternity and child health clinic where your pregnancy is always monitored by an experienced midwife and a perinatologist. You will always be treated by the same professionals, who will have a complete understanding of your situation. Monitoring and treatment are carried out individually and in accordance with your wishes.

You can book your first appointment at our clinic as soon as the pregnancy test is positive. A midwife designated to your family is responsible for the monitoring of the pregnancy throughout its course. In addition, support is also provided by a specialist experienced in pregnancy monitoring fulfilling the role of a designated maternity clinic doctor.

When to book an appointment at the maternity clinic?

The first maternity clinic visit usually takes place between pregnancy weeks 10–13. The schedule for follow-up appointments is planned together. An appointment is recommended every four weeks between pregnancy weeks 10–28, every two weeks between pregnancy weeks 28–36 and every week between pregnancy weeks 36–40. If the baby has not been born by the 40th week of pregnancy, two appointments per week are recommended.

After childbirth, it is common to visit a familiar maternity clinic for a follow-up examination. Home visits are also available.

Cutting edge technology in use at the maternity clinic

In addition to our highly professional staff, our clinic doctors use state-of-the-art equipment. Pregnancy status and foetal examinations are performed with a 4D ultrasound scanner. Parents will receive pictures of their future baby in the OmaMehiläinen app or, if they wish, on a flash drive.

Our clinic also uses cardiotocography equipment to monitor the foetus’s heart rate and uterine contractions during the final stages of pregnancy.

Family coaching at the maternity clinic is an essential part of pregnancy care

At our maternity clinic, you have access to diverse private family coaching services where you will go through matters related to childbirth, adapting to a new life phase and parenthood as well as practical information about how to care for the baby. There are usually three coaching sessions, the first of which takes place between pregnancy weeks 28 and 30. The coaching appointments are planned according to the schedules of each expectant family.

Felicitas Mehiläinen’s professional family therapists will provide help if you have concerns or fears related to pregnancy and childbirth that need to be addressed by a professional. Our dietitians also provide support during pregnancy, if necessary. Private maternity clinic services are partly covered by the Kela reimbursement system.
