First appointment with an infertility specialist
The path taken before seeking infertility treatment services is typically very long. When the decision to seek these services has been made, quick actions are wanted. At Felicitas Mehiläinen, we aim to keep the treatment chain as short and effortless as possible. The examinations and, if necessary, fertility treatment can be accessed quickly.
In an hour-long initial appointment with an infertility specialist, the situation is surveyed and a research and treatment plan is prepared. If you are seeking treatment with your partner, we hope that you will come to the appointment together. It is advisable to reserve 1–2 hours for the first appointment at the clinic.
Please take any documents related to previous infertility examinations with you to the appointment. It is advisable to arrive approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the appointment.
What happens at the first appointment with an infertility specialist?
- You should reserve about an hour for the first appointment with the doctor.
- If the person who booked the appointment is in a relationship, it is advisable that they arrive at the clinic with their spouse. If you wish, you can also come to the appointment alone.
- The purpose of the first appointment is to study general issues related to the woman’s and/or man’s health and fertility, such as the gynaecological background and menstrual cycle. In addition, a clinical examination and a gynaecological ultrasound examination are carried out. The examinations are painless.
- During the appointment, basic fertility studies are planned, including studying the menstrual cycle and the potential occlusion of the fallopian tubes and, if necessary, a sperm sample, as well as any other studies necessary on a case-by-case basis.
The specialists of Felicitas Mehiläinen want to help you with all available means. You can book your first infertility examination appointment as soon as you are worried that you cannot get pregnant. No referral or previous examinations are required. We provide quick access to examinations and, if necessary, treatment.
