Dear patient, I have worked as a gynaecologist for a long time. At my appointments, I meet women from all age groups and in connection with all areas of gynaecology.
My specialist training in gynaecological diseases and childbirth began in Jorvi already in the 1980s, at a time when ultrasound examinations, among other things, were becoming established practice. Later on, I worked in the United States in UCSD’s Reproductive Medicine Research Group under the leadership of the world-famous Professor S. C. Yen. My research focused on PCOS and hormonal regulation. As a fertility doctor, I first started working at the Family Federation of Finland in 1994 and have worked at Felicitas since 2005. My doctoral thesis, completed in 2000, received a special mention and the annual doctoral thesis prize awarded by SGY. The topic was related to carbohydrates, weight and growth factors in PCOS.
At my initiative, Felicitas established Finland’s first fertility advice service in 2015. The service’s goal is to learn more the patient’s fertility as well as to examine and correct fertility problems even before starting fertility treatment. Often these corrections are all that is needed to restore natural fertility and make getting pregnant more likely. My circle of patients began to grow from the early 1980s, and it has been a privilege to treat multiple generations of the same families. It is particularly important to me to have an in-depth, multi-layered view and diagnostic accuracy in all medical activities. My field is one of those with the longest span in health care. Life appears in its entirety, from a small human embryo to an elderly person. Working to promote the health of women, their spouses and their families is my calling, for which I am at your disposal.
